As the weather turns colder, Lackawanna County becomes home to wonderful winter adventures. On the first powdery day, grab your friends and head to Montage Mountain Resorts! Enjoy great views overlooking the valley as you glide down one of Montage Mountain's twenty-seven snowy trails. Challenge yourself and take in the picturesque stillness of winter nature by cross-country skiing at Lackawanna State Park. Bundle up for ice fishing as our lakes and ponds freeze over, and lace up your skates for a twirl and spin on the ice at Hillside Park!
Watch sculptors create art from blocks of ice in front of your very eyes at the Clarks Summit Festival Ice and Scranton Ice Festival. Brave the cold waters during the LRCA's Shiverfest and take a plunge at Montage Mountain's Splashin' for Compassion! Make snow angels, have snowball fights, and take your sleigh to play in the snow at one of our local parks!
With the changing of seasons from Autumn to Winter comes the spread of Holiday joy. Holiday cheer surrounds our region, from jolly downtown storefront decorations to the bright and colorful Nay Aug Park Holiday Light Show! Get a chance to meet Santa Claus up close on the Santa Trolley Expeditions at the Electric City Trolley Museum.
