Things to Do in Carbondale Area

You don’t want to miss Carbondale’s wonderful events, such as Pioneer Nights, which celebrates the end of summer, or the inaugural Carbondalien Festival, commemorating the anniversary of the Carbondale UFO Sighting. Discover the city’s rich coal mining history at the Carbondale Historical Society & Museum and then visit the Coal Miners’ Memorial. During special events, you can take a train from the Steamtown National Historic Site in Scranton to the Carbondale Station. Enjoy the outdoors by hiking, fishing, swimming, or picnicking at Merli-Sarnoski Park, or bike or jog down the historic D&H Rail Trail. Then check out Homestead Golf Course or Valley Bowling Lanes.
