2. Kayak or Canoe the Lackawanna River

The Lackawanna River provides a more adventurous paddling experience, winding through a mix of scenic forests and city landscapes. It's a one-of-a-kind spot for kayaking and canoeing year-round. Due to submerged rocks, ledges, and overhanging branches, paddleboarding is not advised.

Best Seasons to Kayak the River

Spring, Summer, and Fall - river levels tend to be lower in the Summer

HOT TIP: To ensure the best experience, the Lackawanna River Conservation Association recommends verifying that the water level at the Archbald gauge falls between 2.6 feet and 3.6 feet (usually occurs between the end of September and the beginning of May.) Current conditions can be monitored on the LRCA's website.
