The Steamtown Marathon is a nationally recognized, USATF certified event that has been ranked by Runner’s World as the 6th best overall marathon and a top 10 marathon for first-time marathoners.
It's a participant favorite because locals embrace the race and come out in full force to cheer runners on! The locals decorate with signs, swing cowbells, play music, and occasionally offer adult beverages to runners as they near the course finish. Runners also love to arrive early in the area and carb up with delicious pasta and pizza at our amazing restaurants.

The Steamtown Marathon concludes in Downtown Scranton at Courthouse Square. Runners can use convenient bus transportation to the starting line in Forest City, which departs just a block from the finish line. On race morning, participants can park easily in Downtown Scranton, where the parking meters will be free for the weekend.
DO NOT leave a vehicle at the starting line. The Steamtown Marathon will not provide return transportation to the starting line after the race.
