Visit the Electric City Trolley Station & Museum
Discover why Scranton was known as the “Electric City” at the Electric City Trolley Station & Museum. Enjoy interactive, kid-friendly exhibits and see several vintage trolleys. While the museum is open year-round, from April through October, you can buy a ticket and enjoy a 5½ mile ride on an authentic antique trolley. During November and December, don’t miss their special holiday excursions for a festive twist on this historic experience.
Go on the Lackawanna Coal Mine Tour
The Lackawanna Coal Mine Tour reopens for the season in April. Descend 300 feet in a mine car and embark on a one-hour guided tour of a once-operational anthracite coal mine. You’ll discover the fascinating history of coal mining in Lackawanna County, experience what it was like to work underground, and learn how these brave workers powered the Industrial Revolution.
Cheer on the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders
PNC Field in Moosic is home base to the Scranton/Wilkes Barre RailRiders, the Triple-A affiliate of the New York Yankees. Attend their home opener in early April or any of their home games to enjoy a fun and exciting day of baseball, food, and family-friendly entertainment. Kids will enjoy meeting the hilarious mascots or visiting the batting cages, while the whole family will love special promotions, theme nights, and giveaways.
Watch a Broadway in Scranton Show
Every year, Broadway in Scranton brings some of the best plays and musicals to the Scranton Cultural Center at the Masonic Temple so you can enjoy them without the hassle of a trip to New York City. Spring 2025 shows include The Addams Family, Dear Evan Hansen, and Mean Girls. In addition to the excellent performances, be sure to soak up the beauty of the theater — a Gothic architectural masterpiece.
Attend a Spring Event (or Two!)
Kick off springtime in March by heading downtown for the Scranton St. Patrick’s Day Parade, one of the largest in the U.S.! Shake off the cabin fever and get moving at the unique and hysterical The Office 5k, where folks of all fitness levels are encouraged to channel their inner Dunder Mifflin employee. Enjoy a fun run, pre- and post-race parties, and a costume contest.
