overview
Utilizing a combination of quality academic courses, dedicated faculty, small classes, and state-of-the-art technology, Lackawanna grants associate degrees in 28 major areas of study, as well as certificate programs, continuing education classes and job skills training.
Lackawanna graduates are actively recruited by other colleges and universities, with the majority transferring directly to four-year institutions to continue their education. The college remains accessible to students and families with affordable tuition fees and an open admissions policy.
Lackawanna also operates a Police Academy, Paramedic Training Institute, Local Government Academy and an Environmental Institute.
Lackawanna College's historic Student Union Gymnasium is located at 500 Jefferson Avenue in Scranton, and is home for both the Lackawanna College men's and women's basketball teams, as well as the Lackawanna College women's volleyball team and wrestling squad. The gym has undergone several major renovation projects since the College purchased the building in the early 2000's, including updates to the bleachers and seating, the floor, the lighting, the bathrooms and locker rooms, and much more.
The Student Union Gymnasium has hosted several Region XIX and NJCAA District Championships over the years, and has been a site for PIAA Basketball Playoff games.
