Go down in history - 300 feet beneath the surface of the earth in a once abandoned, but now restored hard coal mine. See where and how men and boys worked to heat a nation and fuel the conversion of our nation's economy from agriculture to industry. The temperature in the mine is 53° year round.
Open daily April 1 through November 30 (Apr 2, 2018 due to holiday).
Tour hours: 7 days a week, except major holidays, 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Must arrive by 2:45 p.m. for the last tour at 3:00 p.m.
Gift Shop open from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. A National Award Winning History Attraction operated by the County of Lackawanna Pennsylvania. Partially accessible to handicapped.
