Go down in history - 300 feet beneath the surface of the earth in a once abandoned, but now restored hard coal mine. See where and how men and boys worked to heat a nation and fuel the conversion of our nation's economy from agriculture to industry. The temperature in the mine is 53° year-round.
Open daily April 1 through November 30.
Tour Hours: 7 days a week (except major holidays) 10AM to 3PM. Must arrive by 2PM for the final tour of the day.
Gift Shop Hours: 10AM to 4PM
A National Award Winning History Attraction operated by the County of Lackawanna Pennsylvania. Partially accessible to handicapped. Groups welcome by calling(800) 238-7245. Group Rates are available for schools, motor coaches and civic groups of 20 or more (based on advance reservations).
