From 1949 to Today: The Legacy of the Circle Drive-In

Since first opening its gates in 1949, the Circle Drive-In has stood as a landmark of entertainment in the Greater Scranton and Dickson City community. Built during America’s golden age of drive-in theaters, it has continuously adapted across the decades while preserving its nostalgic atmosphere. The venue grew from a single-screen operation into a two-screen destination, now home to one of the largest outdoor movie screens in Pennsylvania.

Through generations, the Circle Drive-In has remained a gathering place for residents and visitors seeking affordable, family-friendly entertainment. Its longevity—spanning more than 75 years—makes it one of the longest-running drive-in theaters still in operation in the United States. Today, it continues to blend its historic roots with modern events, festivals, and seasonal attractions, all while keeping the classic drive-in spirit alive for future generations.
