About the Everhart Museum

Founded in 1908, the Everhart Museum has served generations of visitors through exhibits, education, and cultural preservation in Northeastern Pennsylvania.

The museum’s collections span natural history, science, art, and culture, featuring fossils, taxidermy, rocks and minerals, fine art, folk art, and artifacts from around the world. Many exhibits trace back to Dr. Isaiah F. Everhart’s original collections, which helped establish one of Pennsylvania’s oldest museums.

Today, the museum continues to inspire curiosity through rotating exhibitions, educational programs, workshops, camps, and community events for visitors of all ages.

Permanent galleries are also regularly refreshed, giving visitors new experiences to discover throughout the year. The Everhart Museum highlights the natural world through collections of fossils, taxidermy, rocks, and minerals from both the local region and beyond. Natural history has been part of the museum since it opened in 1908, when Dr. Isaiah F. Everhart's collection of taxidermied birds and mounted animal specimens became the foundation of the museum. Many of those original pieces are still on display today.

Natural history and science exhibits include the Rocks and Minerals Gallery, Fossil Gallery, and Bird Gallery. Alongside more than 600 preserved birds, visitors can also see exhibits featuring mammals, reptiles, and amphibians.

From October 2025 through October 2027, the Everhart Museum in Scranton will host The Office Exhibition, an immersive experience celebrating the connection between Scranton and the hit television series The Office. The exhibition features authentic props, wardrobe pieces, and memorabilia from the television series, along with behind-the-scenes stories.

Visitors can see recognizable items from the show, including Michael Scott’s “World’s Best Boss” Dundie Award and the iconic purple bandana, while exploring how Scranton became forever linked to one of television’s most popular workplace comedies. Blending nostalgia, interactive experiences, and memorabilia from the series, The Office Exhibition offers fans a one-of-a-kind attraction in the Electric City.

On-site parking is available. Additional parking is located in several parking lots throughout Nay Aug Park. The Museum provides accessible access via the rear entrance. All levels of the Museum are accessible by elevator. Parking spaces are available next to the rear of this entrance.
