Lackawanna River Heritage Trail

 

The Lackawanna River Heritage Trail is a storied route that stretches more than 70 miles, passing through the heart of the Lackawanna Heritage Valley National and State Heritage Area. The Lackawanna Heritage Valley is located amid the mountains of Northeastern Pennsylvania where the waters of the Lackawanna River flow.

Run, walk, bike, or jog the trail and you will experience awe-inspiring views, sculptures, parks, and playgrounds. The Lackawanna River Heritage Trail is a great example of Lackawanna County’s natural beauty.

Public River Access Points

While there are many access points along the river, these are the designated public access points that provide easy river access for kayaks and paddleboards. There is parking available at these locations as well.

 

*Kayaking Tip: The end of September to the beginning of May serves as the best time of the year for river kayaking.
