Electric City Classic

The Electric City Classic is a two-day cycling festival that brings hundreds of professional and amateur cyclists to the heart of Downtown Scranton! The two-day event features the Criterium, or Crit, and The Hill Challenge on Olive Street hill in the Hill Section of Scranton.
PA State Criterium Championships
Known as a “Crit” in cycling communities, the Criterium is a race on a short-circuit course where cyclists complete multiple laps around Downtown Scranton's unique layout and beautiful architecture. Get close to the action as cyclists race at speeds of over 40 miles per hour for first place!
All riders are allowed to race events, regardless of state or country residence. To be eligible for a state championship award, riders must hold an annual USAC license and reside in Pennsylvania. To purchase a USAC license, visit usacycling.org

The Hill Challenge
The Hill Challenge features two competitions; the 1-Mile Dash and Hill Sprints tournament.
1-Mile Dash
Scranton Running Company presents the second annual 1-Mile Dash! Before the Olive Street Hill Sprints, run the short loop in the Hill Section, tackling the cobbles at the top of Olive Street three times. It's one mile but it will challenge even the best runners!

Hill Sprints
Scranton Tomorrow and Geisinger Health present the Hill Sprints tournaments. The Hill Sprints takes place on Olive Street in the "Hills Section" of Scranton, a historic neighborhood named due to the steep hills in the area. Olive Street's unique location and steep hill poses the ultimate test for athletes. Its upper section is still covered in brick, adding both charm and challenge to the race.

HILL SPRINT DIVISIONS:
• 3 LAPS: Open Women (geared bikes), Open Men (geared bikes), Fixed Gears
• 1 LAP: "No Spandex" (any bike, any experience), U5-in-Tow (a trailer, handlebar seat, or rear seat for your little one under 5)
• COBBLED SECTION: Wheelbarrow (teams of 4 push one member up the cobbled section of Olive Street)

PARKING: There will be limited on-street parking in and around Downtown Scranton and Olive Street for the Criterium and Hill Climbs. Downtown Scranton provides five Central Parking Garages within close proximity to the Criterium road course.
