Ride the train to the top of the Pocono Plateau and the village of Tobyhanna. Take a 1/2-mile hike to Mill Pond #1 where you can learn about the once-booming ice industry, or join the Coolbaugh Township Historical Association for a walking tour of the town! Enjoy light refreshments provided by the Pocono Rail Historical Society and tour the historic Tobyhanna Station and the train station museum.

The Tobyhanna train station was built in 1908 by the Delaware, Lackawanna and Western Railroad and was leased and restored by the Pocono Mountain Chapter of the National Railway Historical Society in 1994. Today the station serves as the chapter’s meeting space, and it houses a collection of railroad artifacts, including two running model train layouts plus a small gift shop.

Picnic tables are available. Porta johns will be available for restrooms, and there will also be plenty of free parking. The station is located next to an active freight railroad for train enthusiasts.

Tickets for this event will be made available on April 1, 2023. To purchase tickets for this Excursion, please visit Recreation.Gov.
