Carbondale: Pioneer Nights

Enjoy an evening train ride to historic Carbondale for an end-of-summer celebration at their annual Pioneer Nights celebration packed with food, fun, a parade, and music!

Take a scenic train ride through the Lackawanna Valley along the old Delaware & Hudson Railroad tracks to Carbondale, PA.

Carbondale’s present-day train station was built on the site of the Delaware and Hudson Seventh Avenue train station that was opened on February 1, 1896. Local and express trains, both north and south, from Carbondale arrived and departed from Carbondale on a daily basis. In the 1950s, as many as fifteen passenger trains departed daily from this station for Scranton.
