Carbondale: Fall Foliage Outdoor Train (Bike)

Steamtown NHS is partnering with the Lackawanna Heritage Valley National and State Heritage Area, Trout Unlimited, and the Lackawanna River Conservation Association to offer an "Outdoor" Train along the Carbondale Line! Passengers will have several options: Learn, Walk, or Bike along the Lackawanna River Heritage Trail (LHT). Cyclists will cruise from Carbondale to Olyphant, approximately 11 miles.

Take a scenic train ride through the Lackawanna Valley along the old Delaware & Hudson Railroad tracks to Carbondale, PA.

Carbondale’s present-day train station was built on the site of the Delaware and Hudson Seventh Avenue train station, which opened on February 1, 1896. Local and express trains, both north and south, arrived and departed from Carbondale daily. In the 1950s, as many as fifteen passenger trains departed daily from this station for Scranton.

Tickets for this event will be available on Saturday, July 6th, 2024. To purchase tickets for this Excursion, please visit Recreation.Gov.

NOTICE: Train rides are subject to cancellation due to mechanical issues, inclement weather, or crew availability.
