Lackawanna County has entered the Green Phase of PA's reopening plan. We recommend that you call ahead to your destination before traveling to ensure nothing has changed. Mask-wearing is required in Pennsylvania.
While the official Scranton Fringe Festival, the annual large fall festival of arts, culture, and community is officially cancelled, Team Fringe will host an exciting new project that will provide a unique, safer theatrical experience for local audiences.
Fringe Under Glass is a pilot program of performing arts set behind the windows of various downtown Scranton venues and small businesses.
The live works will feature solo artists or small groups of creative talent who are already living or working in close proximity, creating strong visuals as well as engaging live audiences safely from a distance.
Featured artists & cultural groups include:
Black Scranton Gaslight Theatre Company The Pop Up Studio Mostly Opera Simone Daniel Nicole Nicholas
Wireless audio transmission will be utilized to provide small groups of live audience members the ability to maintain a safe distance from the artists and each other as they travel from window to window in the Electric City.
WHERE? Various sidewalks of downtown Scranton PA
WHEN? Friday September 25th thru Sunday September 27th (times vary)
WHAT ARE THE SAFETY MEASURES? All performers will be behind glass, distant from the audience (with use of wireless audio to ensure all can hear and enjoy the work). All audiences (in small walking groups) and Fringe tour guides will be required to wear masks while attending this event. Masks, gloves, and other PPE supplies will be available at all times during this event. Fringe staff will ensure each locale is sanitized between each performance.
