Outdoor Adventure Train: Steamtown Excursion to Carbondale & Archbald

Join Steamtown NHS and the Lackawanna Heritage Valley National and State Heritage Area friends on Saturday, June 10, as they ride the rails and trails on the Outdoor Adventure Train! Take a scenic ride along the rails for an outdoor afternoon adventure along the Lackawanna River Heritage Trail that you won't want to miss. Choose between hiking or biking excursions for an extra special day in the Lackawanna Valley.

Walking (Archbald)

Explore the path less traveled with a four-mile walk along the Lackawanna River Heritage Trail! Disembark at the Laurel Street Trailhead in Archbald and begin the 4-mile trek to the historic Olyphant Train Station, where all passengers will meet to ride the rails back to Steamtown. Biking (Carbondale)

Looking to explore more of the Lackawanna River Heritage Trail? Bring your bike along for the ride! Cyclists and their bikes will disembark in Carbondale for an 11-mile group bike ride to meet back with the train and other passengers at the historic Olyphant Train Station. NOTE: the biking portion will traverse both city roadways and the LHVA trail. For more information on the Biking portion, please visit the Steamtown NHS website.

Schedule

• 9:30 AM – Depart Steamtown NHS
• 10:45 AM – Walkers Disembark in Archbald
• 11:30 AM – Cyclists Disembark with Bikes in Carbondale
• 1:30 PM – Depart Olyphant Train Station
• 2:30 PM – Arrive Back at Steamtown NHS
