Steamtown National Historic Site begins another operating season in the historic railroad yard of the Delaware Lackawanna & Western Railroad. This marks the return of their train tours of the yard with the Scranton Limited and Nay Aug Gorge Limited trains.
In addition, they are participating with other National Park units on Junior Ranger Day, April 21, Earth Day, April 22 and National Park Rx Day, April 29.
April is National Volunteer Month, too, so we are honoring all of our helpers, known as VIPs, without whom we just could not accomplish our mission.
There is no park entrance fee to visit, but there is a $5.00 ticket cost to ride the Scranton Limited trains for riders aged 6 and up. Under 6 requires a no-cost ticket. The Limiteds will run on the Saturdays and Sundays of National Park Week, plus Friday, April 27. Each day is planned to feature steam locomotive no. 26 on the Limited Trains, departing from the Roundhouse at 10:30, 11:30 1:15 and 2:15 PM.
