Opening Day - April 1, 2024
The Lackawanna Coal Mine Tour kicks off its season on April 1st. Go down in history—300 feet beneath the surface of the earth in a once abandoned but now restored hard coal mine. See where and how men and boys worked to heat a nation and fuel the conversion of our nation's economy from agriculture to industry. The temperature in the mine is 53° year-round.
Tour hours:
- Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays (closed on major holidays)
- 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. The last tour leaves at 3:00 PM (must arrive by 2:00 PM - 2:15 PM)
A National Award-Winning History Attraction operated by the County of Lackawanna, Pennsylvania. Partially accessible to the disabled.
