Jack & The Beanstalk

The Scranton Shakespeare Festival is thrilled to announce its upcoming Christmas pantomime production, "Jack & The Beanstalk," set to enchant audiences at The Shakes Space at The Marketplace at Steamtown. Following the success of the festival's inaugural pantomime in 2022, this production marks the second year the festival is bringing the beloved UK tradition to the heart of Scranton.

Pantomime, a unique form of theater combining comedy, music, and audience participation, has long been a cherished holiday tradition in the United Kingdom. The Scranton Shakespeare Festival is proud to continue introducing this festive and family-friendly art form to audiences in the United States.

The timeless tale of "Jack & The Beanstalk" promises to be a magical journey for audiences of all ages, filled with laughter, excitement, and the spirit of the season. Blending traditional elements with a modern twist in a way that only pantomime can deliver, join Jack on a towering adventure as he climbs a magical beanstalk to face a colossal giant in this enchanting pantomime that promises laughter, wonder, and a sky-high dose of family fun. Expect song, dance, and hilarity for the whole family - the perfect way to enjoy the festive season.

The Marketplace at Steamtown, a vibrant and central location in Scranton, provides the perfect hub for this festive production, The Shakes Space. The Scranton Shakespeare Festival is grateful for the continued support from The Marketplace and from the wider community and looks forward to welcoming both familiar faces and new audiences to share in the joy of "Jack & The Beanstalk" this holiday season.

This show is suitable for all and lasts about 75 minutes. This event costs $20 per adult and $12 per child (under 13).

Scranton Shakes is a nonprofit organization founded by a board of local community members and theater professionals. Established in 2011, the festival has become a staple of the Scranton arts scene, providing free, professional theater every summer since inception. The organization, now with a year round venue, is expanding its programming to help fund the free summer season productions.
