Take a trip on a vintage electric trolley car! The scenic route follows a portion of the former Lackawanna & Wyoming Valley (Laurel Line) Railroad right-of-way as it parallels Roaring Brook proceeds past the Historic Iron Furnaces and continues through the Crown Avenue Tunnel, at 4747 feet long, one of the longest interurban tunnels ever built.

Proceed to PNC Field, home of the SWB RailRiders, on Montage Mountain, where you'll prepare for your return ride back to the Trolley Museum. After your excursion, head into the museum and explore the vintage trolleys and gift shop!

The Electric City Trolley Museum will also have limited general public excursion departures on Sundays when Special Baseball Excursions are run to the SWB RailRiders games — 10:30 AM and 1:30 PM on these dates: May 28, June 11 & 25, July 9 & 23, August 6, 13 & 27, and September 17.

They also have special Holiday Weekday Excursions for the 2023 Season! These excursions are:

  • Memorial Day Trolley Excursion | Monday, May 29
  • Independence Day Trolley Excursion | Tuesday, July 4
  • Labor Day Trolley Excursion | Monday, September 4
  • Indigenous Day Trolley Excursion | Monday, October 9



During the operating season, the trolley excursion will depart from the main passenger platform of the Steamtown National Historic Site. Please note that tickets for the trolley excursion are sold at the Trolley Museum building and are not available in the car. The trolley excursion boarding area is between the Trolley Museum building and the main Steamtown facilities.

Please call the museum at (570) 963-6590 in advance to verify schedule hours or to inquire about chartering the trolley for a special excursion trip.
