The Marywood University Wind Ensemble and Wind Symphony will perform their annual spring concert on Sunday, April 19th at 4pm in the Sette LaVerghetta Center for the Performing Arts. Admission is free and open to the public.
The Wind Ensemble will perform John Mackey's Strange Humors featuring "typical" melodies of northeastern African continent and the Arabian peninsula, Dmitri Shostakovich's Waltz No. 2, and Percy Grainger's Mock Morris.
The Wind Symphony has programmed Jayce John Ogren's Symphonies of Gaia. The work depicts the mystical beauty of the earth, as well as the disrespect and abuse it has endured throughout time. The Marywood Bands have also commissioned composer Patrick Burns to conduct the World Premiere of his newest composition, Fairest Morning. The work is a brief, yet complex exercise evoking an intense look back at life's defining moments.
