The Office Fan Tour

The tour kicks off at noon inside The Vintage Theatre at 119 Penn Ave in Downtown Scranton. The tour guides welcome fans with a video created by local NBC affiliate, WBRE, featuring fun behind-the-scenes interviews with cast members. After a few words from our guest speakers and other fun-tivities, fans are escorted across the street to see the now infamous "Scranton Welcomes You" sign inside The Mall at Steamtown. We then hit the buses by 1 p.m.  The tour itself includes a family style lunch at Cooper's where fans have a chance to try a fresh beet salad that would even make Dwight smile with delight. Other sites and drive-by photo opportunities on the tour include The Scranton Times-Tribune, Farley's, The Bog, Paper Magic, Mifflin Avenue, the Penn Paper Building, the Scranton Chamber of Commerce, Scranton City Hall, he University of Scranton, Lake Scranton, the Radisson Lackawanna Station hotel, Alfredo's Pizza (NOT Pizza by Alfredo!) and much more. On the bus, fans battle for Schrute Bucks and winners are presented with a special award as the tour wraps up at Poor Richard's Pub! Buses return to the Mall at Steamtown area by 4 p.m.  Tickets Over 21 years (Yuengling Lager included in ticket price): $45, Under 21 years: $35.  Tickets include: transportation around Scranton, lively tour guides, history of the city, stories from cast appearances, food and drinks at Coopers, drinks at Poor Richard's Pub, and even a gift bag featuring a few Dunder Mifflin items from the NBC store. Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation annual Race for the Cure is the largest series of 5K runs/fitness walks in the world which raises significant funds and awareness for the fight against breast cancer, celebrates breast cancer survivorship and honors those who have lost their battle with the disease.  The event starts at 7 a.m. at Courthouse Square in Scranton with a welcome ceremony. You can join in an aerobic workout at 7:30 a.m. At 7:45 a.m. a celebration is held for cancer survivors in attendance. Then survivors walk in the “Parade of Pink” toward the start line and the race begins at 8:30 a.m. Participants can take part in a 5K co-ed run/walk or a one-mile fun walk.  Since the race first began in September 1991, more than 80,000 participants have raced or walked, helping to raise more than one million dollars for education, early detection screening, research, and treatment programs. Up to 75% of the net proceeds from the Race for the Cure stays in Northeastern Pennsylvania.  The event will be held rain or shine and awards will be presented after the race.

The Lackawanna Historical Society is pleased to present a program on the early history of nursing in Lackawanna County, particulary the histories of such local schools of nursing as Hahnemann, Community Medical Center, Moses Taylor, Scranton State Hospital, St. Mary’s Keller Hospital, West Side Hospital, Mid Valley Hospital, St. Joseph’s Hospital, Carbondale General Hospital, and Mercidian. The event will be held on September 12th at 2 P.M. at the Lackawanna Historical Society's headquarters at the Catlin House. The panel members who will present the program are Sue Petula, PhD., R.N., who will speak on the early history of nursing on the state level, Lois Kretch, B.S., M.S., who will speak on the early history of schools of nursing in Lackawanna County, and Ann Griffiths, R.N., who will speak on nursing in the present day. The tour kicks off at noon inside The Vintage Theatre at 119 Penn Ave in Downtown Scranton. The tour guides welcome fans with a video created by local NBC affiliate, WBRE, featuring fun behind-the-scenes interviews with cast members. He has lectured all over the United States and abroad on New York’s history and architecture to audiences ranging from high school students to senior citizen groups. He is also a noted expert on Architect Raymond Hood, who designed Scranton’ s Masonic Temple, the current home to the Scranton Cultural Center. In honor of the 80th Anniversary of its construction, Mr. Robins will discuss Hoods’ work on the Cultural Center design as well as some of his other masterpieces including New York City’s Rockefeller Center. Tours begin at 11am from the main entrance of Lackawanna College at Washington and Vine. Tours take approximate one hour and include the history and architectural details of some of the cities most treasured buildings including the library, masonic temple, city hall, and courthouse to name just a few. Participants also gain an understanding of how Lackawanna County and the city of Scranton has developed and changed since its early settlement.
